Today was Daniel's last day in Trinidad. We started the morning off with doubles from Deen's Doubles in Santa Cruz and a visit to Grandpa's old house. I had to make sure that Daniel had some doubles before his return to the US. We also stopped by Aunt Vicki's. Daniel played with Larry, the Orange-winged Amazon (one of the Amazons from a previous post). We got back to the house and did some NYTimes crosswords. Daniel finished re-stringing Grandpa's mandolin and we were off to the beach! We decided on Tyrico Bay, the beach just past Maracas. The water was warm and emerald green. Even when it started to rain the scenery from the ocean was still a sight to behold. Some rowdy parrots were in trees near the shore. There were sunny skies across the ocean horizon. And in the water, people were celebrating a day off from work for Diwali.

When we got back, Dad had made some of his "Daddy's Famous" curry goat, eggplant, dhal, and potatoes. Delicious! Daniel has 1.5 servings :-) Now he's packing up for his morning flight tomorrow. I'm going to miss his wonderful company but am very happy to have such great memories from this week.

Happy Birthday, Grandma and Avia. Rest in peace, Kenneth Abbott.
